The glass your whisky deserves.
A good single malt spends years in the cask. It deserves better than a blunt supermarket tumbler. The Glenrigg is a whisky glass made properly. Its cut is that same pattern pared back: fewer diamonds at the base for a cleaner, more architectural look. Each one is hand cut from lead-free European crystal, finished with a thin rim, and weighted to sit low and steady in your palm. Pour a measure and you notice the difference before you taste it. Cut, not moulded. No mould lines, no shortcuts.
The same diamond-and-fan family as our Wicklow, simplified: fewer diamonds at the base for a cleaner, more architectural look. Every facet still cut and polished by hand — no mould lines, no shortcuts.
You get the clarity, the weight and the ring of traditional crystal, but without the lead. It is stronger too, and perfectly safe to use every day.
The rim is drawn deliberately thin, so the whisky meets your lip cleanly. Reviewers mention it more than anything else. It is what makes the sip.
A heavy base keeps the centre of gravity low, so the glass feels solid in the hand and settled on the table. There is real reassurance in the weight of it.
Sized for a proper measure with a large cube or a splash of water. Never oversized, never mean. It stands around 9cm tall and 8cm across.
The pair arrives in our emerald box, satin lined and stamped in gold foil, cut to hold both glasses. The box is the gift, so there is no wrapping to do.
Made for spirits
The shape sits in the palm, warms the glass and draws the nose in. Whisky, bourbon, Scotch and single malt are the obvious home for it. It works just as well for a brandy, a cognac or a dark rum, and it makes a fine Old Fashioned. Some glasses only come out for guests. This one earns a place on the everyday shelf too.

Why Hemswell Crystal
Hemswell Crystal started with a simple belief. A fine spirit deserves a fine glass to drink it from. We design in England, in the quiet of the Lincolnshire countryside, and we work with the glass masters of the Bohemian borderlands, where the craft goes back more than 130 years. That partnership brings together British restraint and European skill. The crystal is lead-free, so it keeps its brilliance and its ring. The rim is drawn thin where it counts. And the whole glass is made to be used, not shut away in a cabinet. No shortcuts, no compromises. Just the glass your drink deserves.
The gift that needs no wrapping. Every set of 2 arrives in our emerald box, stamped in gold foil, with a satin lining cut to hold each glass. Lift the lid and it is ready to give.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Glenrigg and the Wicklow?
They share the same lead-free European crystal, the same size and the same hand-cut diamond-and-fan style. The Wicklow is the fuller, more traditional cut; the Glenrigg pares it back with fewer diamonds at the base for a cleaner, more architectural look. They pour identically — choose on looks alone.
Are these glasses lead-free?
Yes. It is made from lead-free European crystal. You get the clarity, weight and ring people associate with traditional crystal, but without the lead, and with a little more strength for everyday use.
How big are they, and will they take a double and ice?
Each glass holds 310ml, which is about 11oz, and stands roughly 9cm tall by 8cm across. There is comfortable room for a double with a large ice cube or a splash of water. Generous, but never oversized.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
Yes. They are dishwasher safe. We recommend handwashing in warm soapy water to keep the hand-cut crystal bright, but the dishwasher will not harm them.
Is it fragile, and how is it protected in transit?
The heavy base makes them feel solid in the hand. Each set travels in our rigid emerald box, with a satin lining that holds both glasses in place, and every order is covered by our 12 month guarantee. If anything arrives less than perfect, we will put it right.
Everyday glass, or just for special occasions?
Both. It is tough enough for the everyday pour and smart enough for a celebration. This is a glass you will actually reach for, not one that stays behind cabinet glass.
What else can I drink from it?
Whisky, bourbon, Scotch and single malt are the natural fit. It also suits brandy, cognac, dark rum and classic cocktails like an Old Fashioned or a Negroni.
Does it come in a gift box?
Yes. Every set of 2 arrives in our emerald presentation box, satin lined and stamped in gold foil. There is no need to wrap it. The box is the gift.
